How an Investigation is Different from an Exam

An Investigation and an Examination are types of Supervisory Activity. This topic lists the key ways that investigations differ from examinations.

  • Scope Type: At initiation the Type is not required.
  • core Standard IRs are not auto added to Information Requests.
  • Core Standard Procedures are not auto added to the investigation.
  • Report: User can choose to send or not send the Report of Examination (ROE) (Figure 1).

    Note: When a report is uploaded, and when the Examiner in Charge (EIC) selects Assign Package Assembler then user is presented with this screen. The user can choose to send or not send the report to the company. This figure shows what is presented when user selects Yes.
  • If Report is not sent, user cannot send/add any additional Matters Requiring Attention (MRA).
  • Close Out: User does not see a next exam due by option.
