SES Implementation Jumpstart Optional Action 2

Begin using new analysis tools for Mortgage and MSB supervision through NMLS Analytics

About this task

Last updated: 2020-04-301

There are two new examination tools to help state agencies with various steps in the SES workflow. These tools are available to use now, and it is a great time to begin integrating them into your supervisory processes.
  1. Mortgage Scheduling Assistant: SRR worked with the Risk Profile Working Group (RPG)—comprised of state agency mortgage examiners— to develop a risk score based on outliers reported in certain MCR data points. The risk scores allow supervisors and examiners to monitor the health of companies, as well as to identify data quality issues in those companies’ MCR filings.
  2. MSB Analytics – Risk Profiling Reports: The MSB Call Report Working Group provided oversight for new reports in the MSB Call Report Analytics tool.
These reports include analysis of risk scores based on outliers, cash burn rate and international transactions. By adopting these tools now, you can position your agency to take advantage of all the features of SES. Some examples include:
  • Exam Scheduling: The outlier reports help prioritize companies with the highest risk score to include on your schedule
  • Exam Scoping: You can focus the content of an exam based on where the company stands out against its peers, which is made clear on the outlier reports
  • Offsite monitoring: The new tools provide multiple views into a company’s activity and financial health. This allows you to periodically monitor licensees outside of the exam period, question companies on specific data anomalies, and spend less resources on companies that are low risk.

Procedure

Contact the NMLS Data Analytics team to do a walk-through of the tools for your state agency.

1 This document lists optional actions and instructions state agencies can perform now prior to the SES formal implementation process, comprised by onboarding and training. Working on these options ahead of time will enhance your implementation process and make certain agency-specific features in the system readily available to you during the onboarding process. Please note that completing any of the options below does not guarantee that the agency will get early access to the system or that the agency will start the formal implementation system earlier than planned.
